This is one of the “classical” Sicilian tours, putting together two of the most interesting and impressive experiences for people visiting the island: Taormina and Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, still active.

We drive along the winding road to Etna Sud and the Crateri Silvestri area, at 1800 mt a.s.l. As we get higher and higher, the view becomes wider, including the sea, Catania, the woods on the slopes of the volcano.You can go hiking in this area, exploring the Crateri Silvestri, which are two extinct craters, or you can continue further on, taking the cable car and then a 4×4 minivan up to about 3000 mts. The landscape around the central crater is lunar and in clear days you’ll enjoy an amazing view on half of Sicily, from Siracusa in the south to Messina and continental Italy in the north, on the Nebrodi mountains and the hilly Sicilian inland. Back at the foot of the mountain, next stop is Taormina, the best known tourist resort in Sicily. It is an ancient village with beautiful old houses in soft colours and narrow stone paved streets lined with shops, restaurants and cafés. The most important monument is the Greek – Roman Theatre, an amazing open-air theatre with a breathtaking view on the coast and Etna, which is considered one of the most beautiful views in the entire world. During summer, the theatre hosts the Taormina Film Fest, which is one of the most important international film festivals, and several other events such as pop music concerts, opera, theatre etc.
