Walking tour in Palermo by night
Let us guide you through the streets of Palermo ‘s historic centre to discover the lively atmosphere of the local nightlife and movida and discover how history and modernity come together to create unusual scenarios.
Your walk will begin at Porta Felice and, accompanied by one of our staff, you will walk through the ancient Arab quarter of Kalsa, from the Arabic “the chosen one”. Culturally very lively, the district is composed of small craft workshops, museums, churches and very special places, it maintains its popular aura managing to blend everything in an Arab-Sicilian atmosphere. Along the way you can see fantastic examples of street art, with many murals that characterize the area.
You will then enter Piazza Magione which takes its name from the church of the same name: square in shape, it was formed on the smaller and older Piazza Sant’Euno, whose characteristics were distorted due to the violent bombing of World War II. The green lawn of the square is cut in several points by the restored foundations of the pre-existing buildings, which serve as streets that cross the entire square and allow pedestrian transit.
Another local nightlife hotspot you’ll visit is Piazza Rivoluzione, the heart of Palermo’s Risorgimento and the symbol of the fight against the Bourbons.
Here, in a famous pub, you can enjoy a delicious Sicilian aperitif and, at the end of the evening, return to the starting point passing by the magnificent Basilica of S. Francesco.
